Knife Skills Part 1

I have a slight dislike for single-use kitchen utensils. Thanks to my mom, who was a fantastic cooking mentor, I have a firm belief that many things can be accomplished with a knife. One of the easiest things to do is peel garlic.

Place the clove of garlic on a clean surface

Next, place a large, study knife over the clove so that the clove is in the center of the blade

Place the heel of your hand on the knife, over where the garlic clove is. Either press down firmly, or, if you’re comfortable with knives, lift your hand up and smack the area of the knife above the clove.

Ta-da! The peel just falls off.
